Summer 2012

This summer break has gone so quick. It's been fantastic as well!

I went on my little holiday to Spain, my Dad dropped me off at the airport and off I went, through security and checks and got my seat on the plane. Pili and Diego picked me up at Madrid airport and drove me back to Fuenlabrada - where they live. I met some amazing people - a Graphic Designer, a Photographer, Teachers, Mothers and Fathers - and they all made me feel very welcome, and at home.

The week was amazing, but the culture is so different over there! For starters because it is so hot, you will see small children out until all hours of the morning because it's too hot in the day, I was slowly getting used to waking up at tenish, and not going to bed till the early hours of the morning (they let me off because I was British but I did try my best!) We visited art museums, we saw Madrid, and we also went to Cuenca (Me, Havier and Pili) and swam in a natural river. It was so clear (and cold) it was unbelievable!

Anyway I took about 600 photos... (I would have taken more if I hadn't been so embarrassed by my big camera! I said goodbye to Pili at the airport (there were tears on my side), got picked up at Manchester airport and got driven home. I then slept for a long time...

I might post some pictures later as my photos have all been messed up.

I celebrated my 19th birthday with a lot of people. I saw lots of family and friends at my house, and then went over to a good friends house and had a fancy dress party with her, her husband, their children and my boyfriend. I was Pocahontas, and others included an army man and the bearded lady ;)

We celebrated with lots of party food and cake, lemonady Pimms, and The new Muppet film. It was awesome. I even had 3 cakes!

I had lots of moving away related presents, cooking books, oven gloves, you get the picture. :)

P.A.D.D.L.E worked out great, there was something to do for every Rainbow, Brownie, Guide, Senior Section, Leader, Trefoil! We played wide Games, we ate lots of ice cream, and got soaked doing various activities. We also got given a duck to decorate each, and our new posh neckers.

Meet Samson, who we met on the beach at North Shore.

We went to Skegness on a lovely family holiday, with Mum and Dad, brother and girlfriend and my nephews. It was great but it was also unbelievably hot!

We played at least 4 rounds of golf, on different courses, went on bike rides around the site, went to the beach and paddled, the normal family holiday!

I managed to see one of my favorite bands - The Rash - at The YNOT! Festival. I saw them busking in Buxton years ago, and now my friend and I are obssessed with them! I bought their new CD and a tshirt, and they signed both! Love them!

I also saw lots of acts I didn't know, Frightened Rabbit, Lucy Rose, the list goes on.

My boyfriend, his Mum and I went to watch the Paralympic Equestrian in London! That was also a great experience, all those people in one place. We went to see the Torch as well, and allthough it was late and had to wait 3 hours for it to come, it meant we met one of the Para-torch bearers on the tube home. She was so lovely, and asked me if I wanted to hold the Torch - I jumped at the chance!

I really enjoyed the Paralympics, I found it far more engaging and exciting than the Olympics, every athlete had a story to tell and were so inspiring!

Since schools have been back I have been even busier, sorting out things for University, I've been back at Guides for 2 weeks, 1 meeting left before I go.

I upgraded to Mac from my laptop, I haven't got a name yet, but I'm sure I'll think of something. Just buying the last few things now to go in my room at Uni, I've been on major shopping sprees to buy the boring stuff like towels and colanders etc. and spent a lot of money! Not good.

Oooh! I have been bought a beautiful ukulele and case! This one is named Kitty, and my Grandma has adopted Victor to learn to play herself! I went over the other day to show her a few basic chords and strumming pattern. I'm expecting great things!

I even went to learn how to play WarHammer... Although it was a disaster on my part it was a fun day all in all :)

Well, that's my summer in a nutshell! Next post no doubt will be about my new found Uni life. Wish me luck!
