New Projects!

We've been given a new main project - which is to design a brand for a new Design Festival in Cardiff. This project is underway and the deadline is the 12th December.

We have also been given another two projects on the side:

- A Christmas card with the theme futures, due next week.

- To design a double page spread in a collaborative book with stories by Boyd Clack - a writer, actor, animator and singer from Wales. This book will be available to buy which is a great incentive to really put my personality into it! This will continue past the Christmas holidays as we are not sure about it yet. A size has been chosen but we have not been told the details.

Infographic Project

The deadline for the infographic project has come and gone, all handed in now and waiting for comments.

The project was to answer 5 questions about ourselves and organise it in an infographic that showed our character. The questions were:

1. My name is..
2. My favourite typeface is..
3. Up till now I have had this many pets..
4. When I grow up I am going to be a..
5. My favourite song is...

I decided to make mine really personal and use the things that signify me, I decided on using my desk with my Mac on, my lamp and my pinboard with pieces of paper saying each of the answers on. I decided to use biro and watercolour because I thought it would add to how personal the piece is!

Typography Project

Has come to an end! Here is my final result printed and mounted (though you can't see the mount as I cut it flush with the edge of the poster):

I typed (using my typewriter) onto some foil to capture how embossed it was, and my project stemmed from there! I used layers and changed the opacity to create the ampersand and the text is also made from the image. After the crit we had today with the class (all 50 of us!) I have thought about cutting out acetate to go over the ampersand, I think when I have time I will try this in the near future as I think it'd bring something different to it!

And here is some of what other people came up with:
